The goal of Northwest Plateau Institute of Biology Site is to enlarge the scale of biodiversity information exchange through collecting, arrangement and dissemination of biodiversity information related with relevant field, improve the cooperation in this field between different organizations and individuals in or out of China, spread the biodiversity knowledge in public, make decision support for national and local government on scientific basis, promote the biodiversity conservation and sustainable use in the People's Republic of China.

Task in 1999

The databases, such as "Database of Animals in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" and "Database of Plants in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau" (Chinese edition),will be upgraded to meet the requirement of data sharing on the net.
