The objectives are to evaluate the effects of global climate change on vegetation-mediated feedback to climate and to pastoral land use. The study on carbon dioxide as well as others green house gases emission under different land uses will be a main task in coming couple years. Meanwhile, adaptation of both animal and plant to alpine environments such as strong radiation, cold temperature and lower air pressure will be studied as well:
Long term monitoring of alpine meadow ecosystem
The responses and feedback of alpine ecosystem to global warming
The mechanism of productivity formation of alpine meadow ecosystem
The adaptation of native animal to alpine environ-ment
The effects of supplement solar UV-B radiation on adaptation of alpine plants

Measuring the CO2 emision

Enhanced temperature using ITEX Open Top Chambers (OTC) at Haibei Station

Supplement of UV-B radiation
The practical research should focus on replenishing and enhancing the natural resource base and human capability for removal of deprivations. Sustainable animal production which base on sustainability of ecosystem structures and processes necessary to deliver goods and services. The moderate inputs of energy, materials and corresponding techniques must be introduced and practiced in pilot the households. The main works will be implemented are as follows:
Techniques integrated on fodder crops cultivation and degraded pasture improvement
Extension of livestock fattening techniques
Experimental demonstrations of sustainable development pastoral animal production
